This work is largely from my time in undergrad when ceramics was new to me.
Carving
I believe that everything in the universe is connected in one way or another and I think that those connections are like water in the way that they look and behave. Imagine waves of an intangible force lapping at the shores of our lives, carrying moments through currents of time. This sense of fluid energy serves as a foundation for my ideas to be built on.
The aesthetic of carved porcelain paired with a translucent glaze pleases me very much. The breaks reveal distinct lines and the glaze pools in the recesses to emphasize depth. I enjoy the designing process where I can take into consideration how the lines move across the surface and relate to the lip and foot of a vessel. Currently, I’m experimenting with black porcelain and glaze windows.
Fatty Mugs
Plump with energy, this cup takes on a life of its own. With its little feets and ready stance, it just might walk away when you’re not looking.

Experiments
It’s always fun to challenge yourself with new ideas. I like being resourceful and figuring out ways to create something that normally would be considered “too difficult.” Many of these projects have elements that carried over to my current processes even though I didn’t continue to explore their overarching theme.
Dudes
A collective of beings that speak through gesture. They are often small, cute, and simple. Lovely butts and pudge rolls.
